Joshua Brown BA LTCL PGCE first became involved in the Performing Arts as a schoolboy, where he took part in local music festivals enjoying successful performances principally on piano and as a member of the school choir. This early love of music was nurtured at college where he gained a Post-Graduate qualification in Music Education specialising in the secondary age group followed by a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Open University majoring in music.
Joshua gained his Licentiate Piano Teacher’s Diploma from Trinity College of Music, London in 1976 prior to commencing his career as a Director of Music and Head of Performing Arts in school.
He has taken school choirs and orchestras on tour in Europe, and was a conductor of amateur adult choral societies. In his capacity as a conductor he has MD’d numerous shows, including Grease!, Bugsy Malone, Camelot, Pirates of Penzance, Merchant of Venice and directed performances of major choral works, including the Requiem Mass by Mozart, Faure and Rutter, and Vivaldi’s Gloria.
Joshua was an examiner of Advanced Music for EDEXCEL for more than 30 years before becoming an examiner for the London College of Music, Registry of Guitar Tutors and Cambridge University International Examinations in 2002. Since then he has enjoyed regular international and UK tours.
He has been involved with Music Makers for more than 10 years as a guest adjudicator at the annual Festival in May, and since moving to Weston-super-Mare last year is now the Senior Tutor with responsibility for examinations entries, general coaching and accompanist.
